Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can you give legal advice?

A: No—I’m not a lawyer, and I don’t provide legal advice. My role is to support you with HR best practices, systems, and compliance guidance, but when legal questions arise, I’ll always recommend you consult with an employment attorney. That recommendation isn’t optional—it’s a firm boundary that keeps both of us protected.

Q2: Do you offer support for businesses outside of Missouri?

A: Some HR topics—like hiring processes, SOPs, and internal systems—are universal, and I’m happy to help with those. However, when it comes to state and local employment laws, my experience is specific to Missouri. If your business operates in a different state or is multi-state, I strongly recommend working with an HR professional who is well-versed in your state’s regulations.

Q3: What size businesses do you typically work with?

A: I primarily work with solopreneurs, micro-businesses, and small teams—but if you’re outside that scope and think we may be a good fit, feel free to reach out.

Q4: Do you work with businesses that already have an HR person or team?

A: Yes! I can provide additional support, help with overflow, or take on specific projects—especially those that need fresh eyes, process improvements, or policy development.

Q5: I’m a solo business owner with no team yet. Can you still help me?

A: Absolutely. I specialize in helping solopreneurs and small business owners build the foundation for healthy HR systems before they make their first hire.

Q6: Do you offer ongoing HR support or just project-based work?

A: Both! We can work together for one-time support (like building policies or creating hiring systems) or on a longer-term basis if you need strategic HR partnership as your business grows.

Q7: Do you meet in person or virtually?

A: If you’re local (in the 417-land), I’m happy to meet in person—coffee shops are my favorite! I also work with clients over Zoom if that’s more convenient for you.

Q8: I don’t know where to start—can you help me figure out what I need?

A: Yes! That’s what the initial strategy session is for. We’ll walk through where your business is now, what’s working (and what’s not), and map out your next steps—no pressure, just clarity.
